Reseller - Assorted Business Services is in process of converting their first software as a service Customer over to Addon Version 18.20 offered through an Amazon Cloud Instance. The Customer a Version 6 customer running on an IBM RS6000 AIX Server was looking for a way to modernize to the newest Addon Software without the expense of deploying and maintaining on premise equipment. Since they are based in a larger populated area that could be serviced by stable high-speed internet, ABS provided a demo of the Software as a Service model that would eliminate the need for on premise equipment and provide the Customer with a scalable always on and available anywhere option “Addon Software as a Service”. Customer should be going live during the first week of November, check back for more information soon.

With recent announcements by Oracle the current license holders for Java SE/JRE stating they will start charging a monthly fee for commercial users the privilege to operate. Addon Resellers and Basis International are in the process of evaluating the options which includes the moving over to open-source platform OpenJDK..
